Here's a little update on our garage sale and overall adoption funds :). Granted, this price does not include getting 4 of us to and 5 of us home from India or private lawyer fees, or what we paid for our classes or to Oasis for our homestudy, but it's the biggest bulk of it.
First off....
We made another $280 today, so our grand total from our garage sale this weekend was just over $1,000!! WOW!!!! I am so in awe!
22,000 adoption fees to Wacap/Orphanage
-100.00 donation
- 1,000 garage sale
-8,000 tax return from '10 taxes
= $12,900 to go!
I know that seems like a lot, plus we'll probably need about that again for travel and lawyer fees, but, considering our homestudies aren't done yet, we have only had one fundraiser, and we're still quite a way out from being able to bring our daughter home, I think it is AMAZING! God has really blessed our venture thus far, and I know he will continue to. Thank you for all of your garage sale donations and, as always, your prayers!!
That is a huge chunk you already have!
ReplyDeleteQuestion: you're taking the whole family to India? I guess I just assumed most people leave the kids at home with the grandparents or whoever to save money and just because it's easier. But I know they can sometimes be long trips. How long does India require you to stay?
HOw did the necklaces do? I hope you don't regret getting them. That is an amazing garage sale! Good luck and God Bless.
ReplyDeleteYes, we are all going. It's one trip for about 8 days. I don't feel comfortable leaving Madi for that long with me so far away, I feel better having her close. No one else here is trained yet to cath her, and I could train my mom, I just don't honestly want to be that far away, just in case of shunt problems or UTI or what-not. We also want it to be a family thing.
ReplyDeleteI didn't sell many necklaces, maybe 10 total or so. I'll probaby reduce the price for the next sale. I had them at $4 each or 3 for $10.
ReplyDeleteOh, but I don't regret buying them, I know I'll sell them over time :)
ReplyDeleteThat's awesome, congrats!!
